The Project Director provides leadership in areas of project management and operations overseeing one or multiple project teams including client relationships, marketing, internal administration, financial management, and employee development. This role is key in developing new work opportunities by identifying new leads, establishing new business contacts, potentially acting as proposal champion and/or capture manager for new pursuits. May supervise Project Managers, Construction Managers and other project staff as assigned. Responsible for client interface, scope, schedule, and budget tasks as senior leadership in the field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides leads on new work from existing clients
- Identifies new marketing opportunities and develops leads for new projects
- Assists in proposal preparation
- Coordinates project staff to participate in interviews
- Participates in interviews
- Represents Vanir or client in public forums and meetings
- Has primary responsibility to ensure client satisfaction with our services on assigned projects
- Keeps the Area Managers involved and informed of client relationships
- Serves as primary contact to the client on contractual issues and problems
- Prepares staffing plans/fees for proposals and contracts.
- Negotiates fee, develops contribution and monitors fee consumption and actual contribution versus budget. May expand scope of our contract to enhance the project further within project’s overall budget and other goals.
- Provides all services such that the objectives for quality of Vanir’s service and company profitability are met or exceeded
- Reviews project billings and tracks client payments
- Lead construction efforts in accordance with the district’s program policies and procedures
- Develop an implementation plan and master schedule that reflects the priorities of the district
- Responsible for timely completion of all deliverables required by the client
- Financial reporting to the client and the bond oversight committee
- Develop and review contract documents
- Report and collaborate with client’s senior management team on all project matters
- Develop and implement a program quality management system
- Document and report all program/project data accurately and in a timely manner
- Manage program controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the client
- Track all program and project level status and provide management reports relative to scheduling, cost control, staffing and other related contract requirements
- Create and present program and project data clearly to multiple internal and external stakeholder groups
- Identify risk and create risk mitigation plans successfully
- Develop recommended actions and assist in resolving disputes relative to design and construction
- Provide management of program logistics, organization, safety, and manpower utilization
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure program and project success
- Ensure contractor, architect, and engineer will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
- Ensures that assigned staff have a professional development plan that is supported
- Mentors, coaches and supervises assigned staff
- Conducts performance evaluations of assigned staff
- Interviews prospective project staff
- Participates in developing/modifying program for professional development and assists in implementing program
- Participates in personnel disciplinary actions
- Pre‐plans project staff “shifts” to support new projects and proper closeout of current projects
- Provides perspective, knowledge and support to the team, as needed
- Provides senior‐level technical expertise as “in‐house” consultant to all Project Managers, Construction Managers
- Supports training programs
- Construction management process from pre‐design to occupancy for the purpose of managing time, cost and quality; delivery methods; construction and consultant contracts and selection/ procurement process; contract administration, including amendment and change order process, scope development and management, budgeting, estimating and cost control; CPM scheduling and schedule management; safety; reporting; building codes; construction equipment, materials and methods; construction trades and field issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture is required
- Ideal candidates will possess 15+ years of experience providing project / program management services
- Experience in managing the full construction of education construction project life-cycle: including pre-construction, design phases, and oversight of constructability reviews is required
- Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project related scheduling systems such as MS Project or Primavera are required
- Experience in alternative project delivery methods including Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build is required
- Experience in maximizing the benefits of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is preferred
- Experience in application of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is preferred
- Registration as Architect or Professional Engineer license is preferred
Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $170,000-$185,000.
