Job Description

The Project Engineer reports to the Project Director and Construction Manager, or assigned project leadership. Provides assistance to facilitate the construction management team and document control in an occupied jail project. Provide support for the project team, document control, and assist with construction management activities, observations and reporting. This position will observe construction in the field and will be responsible for compiling project data into regularly issued project reports.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Assists with documenting the progress of construction.
  • Responsible for compiling and implementing regular project reporting.
  • Assists in monitoring activities of builders/contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities.
  • Assists with implementing project controls and documenting of project cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures.
  • Coordinate project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, tracking of relevant information and statuses, and follow-up on action items of all participants.
  • Assist with ensuring contractors, architects, and engineers will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staffing, and equipment.
  • Review and validate project Submittals, PCOs, RFIs, Payment Applications, As-Builts, and project schedules for processing.
  • Participates in project closeout activities including punchlists, trainings, securing record drawings, guarantees, warranties, O&Ms, related provisions for closeout and final project delivery to Owner entities.
  • Performs other duties as required to ensure project success.
  • Consistently follows the organization's safety policy, promoting a positive and collaborative safety culture.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in technical disciplines such as Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent technical area of study.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work positively in a team environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities in a fast-paced field office setting.

  • Knowledge of the general application of construction estimating, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and construction practices.

  • Understanding of contracts, documents, drawings and specifications.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office (Office 365); and experience with project-related Construction Management systems such as Procore are required.

     

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $87,500 - $95,000.
