Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Under general direction, perform a variety of increasingly complex and technical duties; Scope of services to include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide project coordination and management support to department activities and projects in all facets of the construction phases including mobilization, construction and close out
  • Prepare and maintain of a variety of reports, records and files related to assigned activities; maintain data for long and short-range planning; compose written and oral communications to convey information in accordance with city's policies and procedures.
  • Review, analyze and make recommendations for professional services contracts.
  • Serve as a liaison between city's personnel and outside agencies regarding facilities planning activities; communicate with City's staff, consultants and representatives of public agencies regarding planning requirements, permits, schedules and issues.
  • Coordinates the review and approval of substitution submittals, RFIs and CCD's to ensure specification requirements are met
  • Responds to requests for clarification from contractors and keeps a log of such requests
  • Coordinate with site staff to communicate the progress and act as a conduit of information from the site to the project team
  • Communicate with maintenance staff on the project progress and coordinate key milestones where crossover occurs
  • Assist in the reviews and monitoring of applications for payment, and performs fiscal management of project resources
  • Coordinates District delivery of related fixtures, furniture and equipment Perform a variety of special projects as directed;
  • Assist in construction closeout in coordination of warranties, as builts, training and attic stock.
  • Assist in the preparation of Request for Proposals (RFP) and Request for Qualifications (RFQ); analyze the scope and cost of contractor and consultant proposals; review project plans and specifications prior to bids; participate in pre-bid walks and bid openings.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager.
  • Knowledge of project development, design-phase management, construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles is required
  • Experience of with multiple delivery methods, including Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build is preferred
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, Bluebeam, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software and experience with project-related systems such as Prolog and Primavera are required
  • Proficiency with various document control systems, as well as new construction and modernization of educational facilities is preferred
  • Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $105,000-$125,000.
