Job Description

Vanr is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager with a diverse background working on transportation projects including Airports, Mass Transit, Maintenance Base Facilities, Roadways, Maritime and more.

 

The Senior Construction Manager provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities for multiple or complex projects. Duties include ensuring the project(s) are on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contracts. Will supervise construction management team, which may consist of Construction Manager(s), Assistant Construction Manager(s), Field/Project Engineer(s), site inspectors, field administrative staff and other project staff as assigned.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for providing the following services and or for supervising the Construction Management team members who perform these services:

  • Provides construction management services on multiple or complex projects
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Knowledge of WSDOT standard specifications, Record of Materials (ROM), Request for Approval of Materials (RAM), CM Manual and Lag Manuals in the execution of unit price contracting
  • Responsible as onsite liaison with contractor and oversight of progress of construction
  • Coordinates, directs, and monitors activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
  • Manages project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures or as required by the client
  • Leads quality assurance activities including measurement and verification of installed materials and reconciliation with contractor applications for payment.
  • Develop and with coordinate and manage federally funded unit price contracts.
  • Conducts project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
  • Ensures contractors, architects, and engineers will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
  • Provides management of project logistics, organization, and safety
  • Ensures project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for turnover to the owner
  • Ensures project team adheres to safety requirements
  • Performs other duties as required to ensure project success

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture is preferred
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience as a Construction Manager, of which 3 years of experience as a Senior Construction Manager supervising staff is required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required
  • Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related Construction Management systems are required
  • Ability to handle multiple contractors and multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously is required
  • Possession of a valid motor-vehicle operator’s license is required
  • Experience with 24/7 essential operating facilities strongly preferred
  • Registration as an Architect, Professional Engineer, Certified Construction Manager (CCM)  and/or licensed as a General Contractor or relevant journey-level tradesman is preferred
  • DBIA Certification strongly preferred
