Job Description

We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join the team in San Francisco, CA.  The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing new client relationships and fortifying existing client relationships, leading to new company revenue.  The ideal candidate will maintain positive working relationships and communicate effectively with a variety of groups and individuals. This individual will work to improve existing methods and increase productivity and accuracy; think creatively and strategically; successfully mentor and complete work in a team-based environment.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Bay Area Manager and operations team to identify, qualify and position Vanir for opportunities aligning with key market sectors and the area strategic plan
  • Network with and develop relationships with existing clients, as well as identify new opportunities with prospective clients
  • Actively research project opportunities through networking, personal relationships, cold calling, reading of industry publications, attending community events and participating in industry-related organizations
  • Champion lead identification and generation
  • Perform market trends analysis and lead the coordination of introductory meetings with prospective customers
  • Proactively identify, qualify and position the organization on all business development activities in assigned sectors
  • Work closely with marketing, other business development team members, leadership and others business units
  • Review opportunities with the Area Manager to determine priority and decision on pursuits
  • Collaborate with other groups within the company to implement appropriate strategies to address business opportunities and overcome obstacles
  • Respond effectively to customer requests, resolve critical issues and meet all commitments in a timely manner
  • Assist in assembling and briefing the pursuit team to ensure all client requirements are met
  • Work with marketing, guide proposal development and determine the correct resources and timing of deliverables to keep proposals on track
  • Responsible for preparing the interview team for a successful interview

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Construction or related technical field of study is required
  • At least 7 years of experience in business development within a professional service or business-to-business environment
  • Demonstrated experience in tracking and managing a wide range of leads, focusing on follow-through and closure
  • Proficient at building and managing client relationships
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations
  • Preferred experience using CRM software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
