Job Description

As a Systems Administrator, you'll report to the manager, information technology and be responsible for establishing and improving appropriate systems management processes. You'll help manage Windows servers in a virtual server environment and be responsible for systems planning, design, installation, patching, and optimization of servers. To do this, you must have experience with VMware / vCenter /SRM/ESXi, Windows Server /Active Directory Administration - DNS/DHCP and SAN, NAS storage appliances.

 

Along with the above, you'll need to support helpdesk support functions, desktop support services and provide support or refer to the appropriate staff member.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strong experience with servers, virtual servers, and software including VMWare, Hyper-V, Veeam, and Help Desk ticketing systems.
  • Performs operating system installation and performance tuning.
  • Administers and designs storage solutions.
  • Must be available for emergency support operations.
  • Recommends and implements techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in field of expertise
  • Assists users with questions regarding systems/applications
  • Updates and maintains reference manuals (internal and otherwise)
  • Provide day-to-day technology support and general systems management (user/group management, license management, systems configuration, etc.)
  • Performs routine security and configuration audits
  • Performs a wide range of system administration duties, including support of corporate enterprise applications, databases, laptops, servers, and network equipment
  • Leverage the internal help-desk support systems and processes to ensure that IT issues impacting employees are quickly resolved.
  • Proactively oversee the monitoring of all IT devices, applications and services using a combination of tools.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware administration is required.
  • Propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a computer related field or equivalent experience.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems a plus.
  • 3-5 years of related experience administering Windows Servers and Active Directory infrastructure in medium to large organizations.
    • At least 3+ years of experience should be with planning, deploying and administration of VMWare vSphere.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS, SNMP, Active Directory, SSL, IIS, SQL, WSUS, SCCM
  • Scripting and automation experience a plus.
  • Microsoft MCSE and VMWARE certification a plus.
  • Understanding of IT management frameworks (such as ITIL and COBIT) a plus.
  • Strong ability to follow written procedures and meeting timelines.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and presentation skills.
