    Job Description

    Vanir Construction Management, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Specifications Writer to join the team. 

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Reviews proposed revisions and provides rewrites to client’s standard design specifications through coordination compliance with institutional guidelines, industry standards, and existing laws, rules, regulations and codes
    • Develops new standard specification sections as needed to meet client guidelines, standards, and requirements
    • Prepare and review the procurement and contracting requirements, including the Division 1 General Requirement sections
    • Performs product and systems research and assists with material selection
    • Provides quality management reviews and technical advice in design development through construction document phases
    • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or engineering or equivalent in education or experience required
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in writing technical building construction specifications
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Established experience in the production of Outline Specifications, Design Development and Construction Document Specifications
    • Knowledge in product research, updating of office master specification, updating of technical library and communication with product representatives
    • Strong knowledge of architectural design, engineering coordination, design trends, products, construction methodology, building systems, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness
    • Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents
    • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

    Preferred Qualifications

    • CSI Certified Construction Specifier (CCS)
    • Master’s Degree 
    • Registered Architect with current license
    • NCARB registration 
    • Working knowledge of SharePoint 
    • Corrections experience
