    Job Description

    The Construction Manager provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities. Duties include ensuring the project is on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contract. May supervise field administrative staff, Field/Project Engineers and/or assistant Construction Managers. This position will support construction in the Aviation Sector.

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Manage infrastructure and building type projects with an aviation environment, including the pre-construction, construction, and closeout/warranty period
    • Assist in the procurement of construction contracts to execute work
    • Perform plan review for constructability and compliance with City of Los Angeles Codes, and FAA applicable regulations
    • Manage changes throughout the construction process, perform estimating and schedule management of the construction contract, produce periodic reporting to senior management and other officials, coordinate the commissioning of facilities, and perform technical as well as financial closeout of projects
    • Oversee junior staff assisting with said projects and provide mentoring to staff

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture is required (Extensive relevant construction management experience in place of education may be considered)
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Construction Manager is required
    • Experience in building infrastructure and public buildings, preferably in an aviation environment
    • Familiarity in building within an airport secure area and understanding the logistics within this type of environment 
    • Strong oral and written communication skills are required
    • Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
    • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related Construction Management systems are preferred
    • Certified Construction Manager, Professional Engineer, or related certification is preferred
    • Proven experience as a team leader is a plus
    • Experience with fire stations or similar training facilities a plus
