    Job Description

    The Communications and Content Manager creates and executes strategic corporate communications programs to reach target audiences and to support the marketing and business development objectives of the company. This Director performs and assists in the researching, writing, design, editing, producing and publishing of communications content, both written and graphic. In this role you will also conduct proactive and reactive media relations and will act as the company’s primary spokesperson.


    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


    Strategic Communications

    • Ensures that the strategic plan for corporate communications is current and supports the business objectives of the company
    • Ensures that execution of the communications program is fully integrated with and coordinated with marketing/business development initiatives and activities
    • Monitors industry trends to effectively align Vanir’s key messaging
    • Understands the concepts of and has experience with branding


    Public Relations

    • Conducts proactive and reactive media relations
    • Acts as the primary company spokesperson with the media
    • Monitors all media sources (written and electronic) for any company or client related news or activities and develop responses as appropriate and necessary
    • Coordinates with company clients in the development of public messaging



    • Develops and maintains contacts with key local, regional and statewide media outlets and media personnel
    • Develops and maintains contacts with key nationwide industry organizations


    Calendar Maintenance

    • Develops and maintains an annual calendar of media and communications opportunities
    • Develops and maintains calendar of companywide program and project milestone events
    • Develops and implements a communications plan to publicize both corporate program and project milestones and notable events



    • Schedules, produces and distributes content to support the company’s strategic and tactical business objectives
    • Primary responsibility for the composition, editing and graphic design of communications content including key messages, news releases, blogs, bylined articles, Q&A’s, fact sheets, bios, speeches, video scripts, talking points and other materials
    • Seeks out industry award opportunities, matches opportunities with appropriate company programs and projects, prepares and submits award applications
    • Monitor and update the company’s website design and content
    • Develop value based messaging and “post” on social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram


    Graphic Design

    • Collaborates with the company’s Senior Creative Designer in the design and development of all graphic design initiatives
    • Collaborates with the company’s Senior Creative Designer, the pursuit management team and Capture Managers in the development of unique collateral materials that support the messaging for key new business pursuits


    Internal Communications

    • Produce all internal initiatives and communications


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Marketing or Communications
    • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience with strong writing, editing, and research skills
    • MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite including InDesign
    • Social Media including Hootsuite
    • Specialization in the building and A/E/C industries is a plus
    • Photography and video office management and automated systems
