    Job Description

    The Construction Manager provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities. This position will report to the Project Director, and will be based in San Jose, CA. The Construction Manager will provide the planning, coordination, and direction for construction management activities on K-12 projects. 

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provides on-site construction management services for K-12 education construction projects
    • Ensures thorough review of the design document plans and specifications
      Familiarity with common construction materials, methods, and equipment
    • Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements for education construction projects
    • Responsible for representing public owners during construction phases of active projects including the tracking, monitoring and administration of contractor's construction contracts and day-to-day construction operations on behalf of the owner
    • Ensure project contract deliverables and reporting are being executed - including, but not limited to: Meeting Minutes, Daily Construction Reports, Quality Control Reports, Schedules, Field Review
    • Change Order COR/FCO review and validation
    • Coordinates, directs, and monitors activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
    • Manages project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures or as required by the client
    • Conducts project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
    • Ensures contractors, architects, and engineers will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
    • Provides management of project logistics, organization and safety
    • Ensures project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for turnover to the owner
    • Performs other duties as required to ensure project success

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture is required (Extensive relevant construction management experience in place of education may be considered)
    • 5+ years of experience as a Construction Manager is required
    • Experience with public projects in California, specifically with K-12 education
    • Ability to handle multiple contractors and multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously is required
    • Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
    • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related Construction Management systems are preferred
    • Certified Construction Manager preferred
