    Job Description

    The Communications Manager works directly with the Project Director and / or Superintendent to act as the conduit for communication for all stakeholders. The Senior Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for the creation of communication materials and public relations campaigns.


    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Organizes and manages all communication and public relations related to construction, facilities and bond projects in the District
    • Creating presentations for District employees, School Board of Education, students, parent groups, and others 
    • Prepares analyses and reports as necessary for the Superintendent and School Board of Education
    • Prepares and provides explanations on proposed and on-going building programs, projects and activities
    • Receives and fulfills all Public Records Act requests in a timely manner
    • Strategizes a public relations campaign for all directed activities to increase communication and awareness for the District
    • Produce written communication such as newsletters and press releases
    • Creates content for district website, manage district blog, and existing social media platforms
    • Recommends and organizes press conferences, public events, and district activities for the Superintendent
    • Participate in community outreach and coordinate community events such as ground breakings and ribbon cutting celebrations
    • Driving, as needed, to perform the essential functions of the job 
    • Performs related duties as assigned 


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor Degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field is required 
    • 4+ years of experience in media and public relations is required
    • Knowledge of communication and public relation strategies is required
    • Advanced level in writing, editing, composition, and verbal communication is required
    • Publication layout, production, employee publications, editorials, and educational publications is required
    • Experience with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office is required
    • Experience with social media and web design is required
    • Experience with Adobe Photoshop is preferred
    • Ability to work with both MAC and PC computers is highly preferred 
    • Experience in public relations and / or communications related to the education sector is preferred, but not required 
    • A valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation is required
