Job Description



The position of Project Director will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver intelligent solutions that ensure quality project delivery. This individual will be responsible for providing oversight on the planning, design, and construction for programs as well as contribute in the development of project policies, standards, and procedures. This individual will lead the Program Teams for a school district and a community college program.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development, review and approval of detailed architect, construction management and consultant contracts
  • Development, review and management of the RFP process for architects, construction management and consultant contracts
  • Responsible for administration of the Vanir Contract with the Owner
  • Aid with the resolution of design/construction issues that are escalated from PMs
  • Provide oversight for bond cost management including budget, contracts and invoices
  • Attend all board meetings that are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday evening of each month
  • Assist with preparation of agenda items and present agenda items to the board at each meeting (line item above) and will be required to create PowerPoint presentations to be presented to the board
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the Measure E Implementation plan and provide guidance to staff to meet the expectations of the client including management of schedule, cost and quality
  • Meet weekly with the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services to provide updates about ongoing projects, provide recommendations regarding resolution of bond project issues and provide a lookahead of upcoming program milestones
  • Work with legal counsel to resolve any CEQA or project related issues
  • Provide leadership and oversight to staff including staff development
  • Be responsible for the Vanir contract financial management

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related degree is required
  • 10+ years of experience providing project / program / construction management services with demonstrated progression of responsibility with K-12 and higher education programs is required
  • Experience in managing the full construction life-cycle, including pre-construction, design phases, and oversight of constructability reviews is required
  • Proven ability to ensure that the project delivery adheres to approved design, budget, and schedule is required
  • Previous experience developing division policies, standards, and procedures is required
  • Ability to take initiative and create solutions while collaborating with internal and external clients is required
  • An understanding of the value of project delivery, cost complexity, and the need to deal with unanticipated events and unforeseen conditions is required
