Job Description

The Construction Manager provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities. Duties include ensuring the project is on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contract. The Construction Manager reports to Project Director, or assigned project leadership. May supervise field administrative staff, Field/Project Engineers and/or assistant Construction Managers.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides construction management services on public building projects
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements for projects
  • Responsible as onsite liaison with contractor and oversight of progress of construction
  • Coordinates, directs, and monitors activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
  • Manages project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures or as required by the client
  • Conducts project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
  • Ensures contractors, architects, and engineers will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
  • Provides management of project logistics, organization and safety
  • Ensures project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for turnover to the owner, including closeout requirements
  • Performs other duties as required to ensure project success

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in technical disciplines such as engineering, construction management, architecture, or equivalent technical area of study, and 5+ years of experience in management of construction, engineering or architectural related projects
    • OR
    • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in business disciplines such as business administration, accounting/finance or management, and 7+ years of experience in management of construction, engineering, or equivalent technical projects
    • OR
    • Non-degree holders must possess 9+ years of experience of management on construction engineering or architectural related projects
  • Experience with Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) or Public Safety Buildings (PSB) is desired but not required
  • Registration as Architect, Engineer, and/or GC license is desired
  • Must possess knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices
  • Understanding of contracts, documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Applied experience in the areas of project accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction in professional settings
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project related systems such as PMWeb, Sure Track, and Primavera. 
  • Ability to represent Vanir and related entities in a professional manner at all times to ensure company policies and procedures as well as compliance to all applicable laws and regulations
  • Certified Construction Manager preferred
