Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager provides the planning, coordination, and direction for project management activities to ensure they meet owner needs, specifications, cost, and schedule. May supervise office/field administrative staff, project/field engineers, assistant project/construction managers, and other assigned staff.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site project management support for the construction healthcare campus renovations which can include tenant improvement projects inside an existing hospital, MOB TI, mechanical systems upgrades, and installation of imaging equipment
  • Undertake management responsibilities for some or all aspects of design and construction
  • Support management in defining and approving project scope, budget and goals by providing technical expertise
  • Ensure all aspects of projects are completed consistent with applicable laws, regulations and contract requirements
  • Confirm all permits required by regulatory authorities are current as required by the project schedule
  • Monitor performance of design and construction teams
  • Communicate project status to owner
  • Evaluate designer, contractor, and specialty consultant proposals including change orders and requests to perform additional services
  • Plan, orgainze, direct, coordinate, and report on construction activities
  • Perform day-to-day contract administration including assisting in bid analysis, award, coordination, and leading meetings with contractors
  • Formulate solutions, tactics and strategies to ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, performance requirements and contracts
  • Monitoring construction work and performance of contractors and personnel
  • Support owner's project manager as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is desired but students at the end of their degree program will suffice
  • 0-3 years of experience as a Project Manager, preferably with medical office buildings
  • OSHPD experience is desired
  • Knowledge and application of project development, design-phase management, construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, contracts and delivery methods are required
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related systems such as Prolog and Primavera are required
  • Proficiency with various document control systems, as well as new construction and modernization of healthcare projects is preferred
