Job Description

The Construction Manager provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities. Duties include ensuring the project is on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contract. May supervise field administrative staff, Field/Project Engineers and/or assistant Construction Managers.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate various projects with company resources
  • Assist with preconstruction efforts
  • Manage all aspects of their discipline elements from inception to completion
  • Manage and execute Quality Assurance Plan for their discipline
  • Review trade contracts and bid packages, as well as oversee procurement process on their discipline trades and associated works
  • Oversee performance of their discipline including trade status, schedule, cost control, and change management systems
  • Maintain relationships with internal MS Partners, designers and consultants, and the GC team
  • Attend and lead discipline meetings, including progress, pre-construction and pre-award
  • Review inspection and test data for compliance with specifications and MSFT standards
  • Set-up QAQC procedures and conduct quality inspections
  • Manage junior or reporting personal as shown in the site organization chart
  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others and enforce IFE program on projects
  • Engage FAT / SAT attendance and Vendor attendance to site as appropriate
  • Communite with the Client, Professional Team, and Contractors to establish, review and regularly update the Project Risk Register around their discipline elements
  • Agree and monitor Risk Mitigation Plans and provide input into quantitative risk analysis reviews
  • Initiate any actions / escalations such as acceleration programs for tasks falling behind and impacting critical path
  • Monitor and report on Commissioning process, checking that the Commissioning Agent has developed a Commissioning Plan and all necessary test sheets and documentation
  • Work with DC Operations team to coordinate their involvement in all installation, commissioning and snagging activities
  • Coordinate all parties to complete Practical Completion documentation and that all manuals are submitted and approved to an agreed schedule
  • Establish and manage the defect identification and resolution process, and monitor all handover activity to Microsoft’s Turn-Over process
  • Work with Integration Lead to develop and manage the Integration plan


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture is required (Extensive relevant construction management experience in place of education may be considered)
  • 5+ years in mission critical facilities project and construction management, background in mechanical, electrical, low voltage required and professional degree in the field of construction management, engineering or architecture

  • 10+ years in mission critical facilities project and construction management, background in mechanical, electrical, low voltage and general construction

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required
  • Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related Construction Management systems are preferred
  • Certified Construction Manager preferred
