Job Description

Reports to the Project Manager and provides the planning, coordination and direction for construction management activities. Duties includes ensuring the project is on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contract. Communication skills are essential for negotiation and collaborating with the General Contractors. May supervise Assistant Construction Managers and Field/Project Engineers as assigned. Prior OSHPD experience is preferred.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Providing construction management services on a hospital project
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to project requirements
  • Responsible for onsite quality assurance of contractor work
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
  • Manage project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities , and procedures required by the client
  • Conduct project meetings and provide documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information Ensure contractor, architect, engineer, will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
  • Provide management of project logistics, organization, safety, and manpower utilization
  • Ensure project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for final project delivery to the owner
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure project success

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is required
  • 3 – 5 years of experience working on Healthcare construction and public work projects is required
  • Over 10 years of overall Construction Industry experience is required with a strong emphasis in general contracting
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required
  • Fire Alarm Upgrade experience is preferred
  • Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project related systems such as Prolog, and Primavera are required
  • Familiarity with OSHPD Policies & Procedures and interface with OSHPD Field Staff is preferred
  • Prior OSHPD experience with a General Contractor preferred
