Job Description


Reports to the Project Director and provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities. Duties include ensuring the project is on budget, to schedule, and adheres to scope. May supervise Field/Project Engineers. This position will provide Construction Management oversight for a 900-bed, $150 million expansion of an exisitng County jail in Orange County. This position is client facing.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides construction management services on Justice/Detention projects
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements for Justice/Detention projects
  • Responsible as onsite liaison with contractor and oversight of progress of construction
  • Coordinates, directs, and monitors activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
  • Manages project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures or as required by the client
  • Conducts project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
  • Ensures contractors, architects, and engineers will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
  • Provides management of project logistics, organization and safety
  • Ensures project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for turnover to the owner, including Justice/Detention closeout requirements
  • Performs other duties as required to ensure project success


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture is required
  • A minimum of 15 years of overall Construction Manager experience is required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required
  • Knowledge and application of on-site scheduling management, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and knowledge of Construction Management project related software systems (budget and schedule) are required
  • Experience with Justice, Detention Center, Correctional Facilities, or Jail projects in California is preferred
  • Certified Construction Manager preferred
