Job Description

The Project Manager provides the planning, coordination and direction for construction management activities on projects to ensure they are on time, budget, schedule, cost, and project performance to ensure the requirements for the contract. Maintain management and project facilitation for the successful completion per compliance, contractual, owner and Vanir requirements.  May supervise field administrative staff, field/project engineers, craft/trade labor, assistant construction managers, and other project staff as assigned.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to project requirements
  • Obtain, maintain, and manage data, information, communications, and approvals required by project and company requirements between owner, engineers, architects, contractors/subcontractors, or other project related entities
  • Coordinate, direct and monitor activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects and related performing entities
  • Manage project controls, cost, and performance activities and procedures
  • Lead in project meetings to include documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information and statuses
  • Responsible for providing oversight of contractors, architects, engineers, and other consultants so that they are complying with their contractual requirements with the owner
  • Provide management of project logistics, organization, safety, and manpower utilization
  • Ensure project closeout to secure guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for final project delivery to owner entities
  • Perform all tasks to ensure the quality of Vanir’s services
  • Provide full support to meet all Vanir HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) goals and demonstrate full commitment health and safety
  • Monitors employee compliance with company’s safety policies and procedures and OSHA (or overriding regional occupational health and safety agency) standards
  • Completes annual safety training
  • Ensures that safety training requirements are met by subordinates
  • Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions and practices
  • Ensures all necessary safety equipment and protective devices are both available and utilized
  • Performs incident investigations, prepares incident reports and follow-up
  • Wears all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely
  • Cooperates with any safety audits conducted, whether in-house review or external agency
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent technical area of study. 5+ years of experience in management of construction, engineering or architectural related projects.
    • Or, Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in business disciplines such as Business Administration, Accounting/Finance or Management. 7+ years of experience in management of construction, engineering, or equivalent technical projects.
    • Or, non-degree holders must possess 9+ years of experience of management on construction, engineering or architectural related projects.
  • Experience in roadway projects, drainage, and utilities (water, wastewater) projects is desired
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely – orally and in writing
  • Must be able to live (including relocation if necessary) and work in Amarillo, Texas
  • Registration as a degreed civil engineer with PE registration is desired.  CCM certification is also desired.

  • Experience in roadway projects, drainage, and utilities (water, wastewater) projects is desired

  • Must possess knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices

  • Understanding of contracts, documents, drawings, and specifications

  • Applied experience in the areas of project accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction in professional settings

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project related systems such as Prolog, Sure Track, and Primavera

  • Ability to represent Vanir and related entities in a professional manner at all times to ensure company policies and procedures as well as compliance to all applicable laws and regulations
